Myth Buzz-ting!

Is it true that consuming local honey improves allergy symptoms?

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

As allergies are not only set off by flowers but many plant spores, including mold which is not pollenated by bees, this calls into question the theory of consuming honey for relief.

A clinical trial published in the National Library of Medicine, surveyed patients with allergy symptoms and gave them either local or non-local honey with the same instructions.

The study found, neither honey group experienced relief from their symptoms.

Geckos enjoying local honey

Despite these inconclusive results, blogs and stores are still marketing and claiming local honey relieves allergies.

With all mixed media messages, it’s important to rely on the research and facts.

There are many other reasons to buy local honey, and for me and my gecko friends, we’d still prefer to support local.
